The Meaning of America
by Paul Cook

Our Fore Fathers acknowledged God's great hand in the establishment of this great nation we call The United States of America, Men choosen of God before the beginning of time and inspired by our Almighty Heavenly Father. Even the name of this great country reflects the purpose of this Nation and the calling of it's people.

Millions of people have been taught that Amerigo Vespucci gave his name to the lands we now call America, although nobody seems to be able to refer to any documents as proof. Another group of people have suggested that America was named for Richard Amerike (pronounced America), a Welshman, prominent Bristol businessman and financier of the John Cabot expeditions to the new world. It is not relavent for which one our country was named, for this thesis. Both names have the same Celtic-Welsh roots and therefore the same meaning.

Richard Amerike is the Anglicized form of Ricard Ap-Meuric. Amerigo Vespucci is the italianized form of Ap-Meuric. Meuric or Meurig is pronounced Meurika in southern welsh with enfaces on the last consonant in the name. that is why an "a" or "o" was added to the end of the name.

Ap and Ab both mean son in Celtic and Welsh. Richard Ap Meuric means Richard son of Meuric. ther are many welsh names that have been anglicized. Ap Richard becomes Prichard. Ab Owen becomes Bowen. The Celtic word Y means "the". Y-Meuric means the Meuric.

Circa 47AD, King Aviragus (the Romanized form of Y-Meuric meaning the Savior), the Druid king, and second cousin of Caradoc king of Seluria, ruled the Silures in Briton. When Joseph of Arimathea, the uncle of Joseph and Mary the mother of Jesus, came to Briton (the name derived from the word Pretonic) to carry the Gospel to the Lost Tribes of Israel. King Aviragus immediately granted Joseph and his followers 12 hides (about 160 acres each) of land tax free. Mary Magdalene is said to be one of the disciples who came with him. Almost all the royal families including Aviragus converted to Christianity. King Aviragus was never defeated in battle.

Meuric is a compound or blending of two Celtic words, Meur meaning son and eric meaning a fine or price paid in compensation for a grievous offence or Atonement. Meuric means Atoning son or savior.

America means children of the Savior or children of Christ.
